Summary ​

If your company has enabled Zoom AI Companion, you no longer need to scramble to take notes during meetings. The AI can listen to the conversation, generate a highly accurate summary, pull out specific action items, and email them to you automatically when the meeting ends. Here is how to turn it on.

Prerequisites ​

  • You must be the Host or Co-host of the meeting to start the AI summary.
  • Your company must have an eligible paid Zoom license with AI Companion enabled by IT.

Instructions ​

1. Start the AI Summary During a Meeting ​

  1. Join or start your Zoom meeting as the Host.
  2. Look at the toolbar at the bottom of the Zoom window.
  3. Click the AI Companion icon (it looks like a small sparkle or star).
  4. Select Start Summary.
  5. All participants in the meeting will hear an audio prompt and see a notification stating that AI Companion has been turned on and is generating a summary.

2. View and Share the Summary After the Meeting ​

  1. When the meeting ends, Zoom will take a few minutes to process the transcript.
  2. You will receive an email from Zoom with the subject line: "Meeting Summary for [Meeting Name]".
  3. Open the email to read a quick overview and a bulleted list of action items.
  4. Optional: To view the summary inside the Zoom app, open Zoom, click the Meetings tab, select the meeting from the list of past meetings, and click the Summary tab.

3. Change Who Gets the Summary ​

By default, the summary might only be sent to the Host. You can change this behavior in your web settings.

  1. Open a web browser and go to zoom.us/profile.
  2. Log in with your work email.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Settings, then click the AI Companion tab at the top.
  4. Scroll to Meeting Summary with AI Companion.
  5. Under "Share summary with," you can choose to automatically send the summary to Only me (the host), Host and internal invitees, or All invitees.

Troubleshooting ​

If you join a meeting late, you can use the AI Companion button to ask private questions like, "What was my name mentioned for?" or "Summarize what happened before I joined," without interrupting the speaker.
