Quick Answer

Sign out of Adobe Acrobat, clear your credential cache, and sign back in to resolve account profile conflicts and restore your access.

Summary

This article resolves the error "You do not have access to this service" when trying to use features like E-sign, even when you have a valid license. This often occurs due to account profile conflicts or disabled services.

Before You Start

Instructions

1. Sign Out and Sign Back In

Refreshing your session often resolves profile conflicts.

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Click your Profile Icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Sign Out.
  4. Restart the application.
  5. Sign in again. Important: If prompted, select Company or School Account (not Personal Account).

2. Verify Profile Selection

If you have both a personal and business profile under the same email, selecting the wrong one triggers this error.

  1. Sign out of Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Sign in again.
  3. When the "Select an Account" screen appears, carefully choose the Company or School Account.
  4. Try to use the E-sign feature again.

3. Check Whether Document Cloud Is Switched Off by Policy

If the steps above did not help, Document Cloud services are probably disabled on your machine deliberately. You can confirm that in about a minute, and the answer is what gets it fixed.

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Click the address bar across the top, type the path below, and press Enter. The exact location varies by Acrobat version, so do not worry if it is not there — that means no policy is set.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockdown\cServices
  3. In the right-hand pane, look for a value named bToggleAdobeDocumentServices. A value of 1 means Document Cloud is switched off by policy. 0 means it is allowed.
  4. Close Registry Editor without changing anything.
  5. If the value is 1, raise a ticket. Tell IT: "Adobe Document Cloud services are disabled on my device — bToggleAdobeDocumentServices is set to 1 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockdown\cServices. I need Adobe Sign for my role. Please confirm whether that policy is intended for me." Include your device name so they can find the right policy assignment.

Troubleshooting

DANGER

If these steps do not work, your IT Administrator may have restricted access to Adobe Sign in the Admin Console. If you are signing a document someone sent you rather than sending one out, that needs no Adobe license — see How to Sign a Document Electronically.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Adobe say I don't have access when I have a license?
This happens when your account profile is out of sync or caching old credentials. Signing out and signing back in forces Adobe to refresh your active license.
Do I need to pay for a new Adobe license to fix this?
No. If your company provides your license, the issue is a software glitch, not a billing problem. Refreshing your login should restore your access.
