Instructions ​

1. Open the Calculator ​

Launch the app quickly using any of these methods.

  1. Press Win and type Calculator, then press Enter.
  2. Alternatively, click Start > scroll to Calculator in the app list.
  3. The Calculator opens in Standard mode by default.

2. Switch Between Calculator Modes ​

Access the full range of calculator modes.

  1. In the Calculator app, click the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
  2. Select one of the available modes:
    • Standard — Basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
    • Scientific — Advanced functions (trigonometry, logarithms, exponents, factorials).
    • Graphing — Plot equations on an X/Y grid (Windows 11).
    • Programmer — Binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal conversions with bitwise operations.
    • Date calculation — Calculate the difference between two dates or add/subtract days from a date.
  3. The calculator interface changes to reflect the selected mode.

3. Use the Converter Tools ​

Convert units, currencies, and other measurements.

  1. Click the menu icon (☰) in the Calculator app.
  2. Under the Converter section, select a converter type:
    • Currency — Real-time exchange rates (requires internet).
    • Volume, Length, Weight and Mass, Temperature, Energy, Area, Speed, Time, Power, Data, Pressure, Angle.
  3. Enter a value in the top field.
  4. Select the source and target units from the dropdown menus.
  5. The converted value displays instantly in the bottom field.

4. Use Date Calculation Mode ​

Find the number of days between two dates or calculate a future/past date.

  1. Open the menu (☰) and select Date calculation.
  2. To find the difference between two dates:
    • Select the Difference between dates option.
    • Set the From date and the To date.
    • The result shows the difference in years, months, and days.
  3. To add or subtract days from a date:
    • Select the Add or subtract days option.
    • Set the starting date.
    • Enter the number of years, months, and/or days to add or subtract.
    • The resulting date displays below.

5. Keep the Calculator on Top ​

Pin the Calculator above other windows while you work.

  1. In the Calculator app, click the Keep on top icon (a small square with an arrow) in the top-right corner.
  2. The Calculator window stays visible on top of all other windows.
  3. Click the icon again to disable always-on-top mode.

Troubleshooting ​

Use the History panel (click the clock icon in the top-right) to review your recent calculations. History is available in Standard and Scientific modes.
